Assistant Controller

Overview

The Assistant Controller will be responsible for managing various financial aspects within Caprock. Their role involves overseeing accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing accurate financial information. The person in this role will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Description

  • Establish (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basis.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
  • Manage cash flow, monitor financial performance, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Manage the month-end close process and produce monthly management accounts and reports within company timelines.
  • Prepare and analyze journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance.
  • Support the review of business transactions to ensure compliance with US GAAP and firm policies.
  • Mentor, manage, and train Staff Accountant.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • At least 3 years of senior-level experience in accounting or as finance manager.
  • Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct accounting system is strongly preferred.
