The Investment Research Analyst will be responsible for a wide variety of investment-related activities including serving as an Investment Team Coordinator, supporting in-depth fund manager diligence, investment monitoring, pipeline management, and quarterly reporting for both conventional investments and impact and sustainable investments. The position will also assist with the development of our proprietary capital market assumptions, and custom Monte Carlo simulations for client portfolios. The Investment Analyst position assists with all aspects of the Investment Committee’s analysis needs as directed by the Chief Investment Officer or a Managing Director.

Investment Research Team Responsibilities
- Serve as the Investment Research Team coordinator;
- Contribute to investment research team initiatives, including risk analyses and investment briefs for internal and external audiences;
- Assist in the production of facing client-facing materials including quarterly commentary, investment memos and other materials using systems and data from services such as Pitchbook, Preqin, Factset, Morningstar and other systems;
- Contribute to the development and preparation of monthly and quarterly investment commentaries for both internal and external audiences;
- Contribute to the organization and management of the investment team’s pipeline management and portfolio management systems and processes, including database management;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CIO, Managing Director of Private Investments, and Managing Director of Impact Investing.
Portfolio Monitoring
- Support the investment team by coordinating portfolio monitoring responsibilities for existing investments. This may include organizing quarterly investment meetings with investment managers and drafting investment assessments and investment briefs.
- Manage a portfolio monitoring database through various tools utilized by the Caprock investment team;
- Coordinate diligence and quarterly review meetings with investment managers;
- Assist with production and distribution of internal fund assessments on a quarterly basis for select Caprock managers and funds. Manage all aspects of the onboarding process with new investment managers; to ensure that investments are quickly and efficiently available to Client Advisors.
Investment Manager Due Diligence
- Support Caprock’s initial and ongoing manager due diligence process across asset classes with an emphasis on private fund managers in real assets, private equity, venture capital, and private debt;
- Assist with production and distribution of client-facing and internal manager recommendations that clearly and succinctly communicate the risks and opportunities an investment offers with support and oversight from senior members of the Investment Team.
Investment Pipeline Management
- Assist with due diligence required to underwrite new private investment opportunities across asset classes;
- Conduct manager and fund scores for select funds and investment managers to support manager selection process;
- Support the team in developing and managing an investment pipeline for private investments across the target asset classes (private equity, venture capital, private debt, and real assets), including impact and sustainable investments;
- Use research tools such as Pitchbook, Preqin, MorningStar and FactSet to identify strong investment themes and fund managers.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required. In Business Administration or Finance preferred;
- 2 – 5 years of experience working with investment data and familiarity with private markets reporting Demonstrated experience or training in financial modeling;
- Demonstrated curiosity regarding financial markets and traditional and alternate valuation techniques across multiple asset classes;
- Familiarity with asset allocation modeling and Monte Carlo simulations;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Teams and finance-related software;
- Series 65 licensed (or willing to obtain).
