When I am not at work, you might find me… Hiking, biking, playing basketball, golfing or skiing. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, I enjoy cooking, reading, and learning more about the world.
Why are you drawn to this line of work? The opportunity to have a strong sense of purpose in my work is something I do not take for granted. I’m also drawn to problems that can be solved through nuance and don’t necessarily have just one right answer.

Background:
Prior to joining Caprock, JJ worked in an operational role for BlackRock Alternative Advisors, BlackRock’s hedge fund and co-investment arm. At BlackRock, he gained a wide breadth of experience and “learned how the sausage was made”, which has instilled a sense of curiosity and open-mindedness in his approach to investing, solving for client goals, and life in general.
In 2011, JJ graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Finance and earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2017. He lives in Seattle with his wife and enjoys the outdoors and cooking ambitious meals on weekdays.
