After I finished reading “The Green Collar Economy” by Van Jones, I knew I wanted to work in impact investing. I was enthralled with the idea that wealth could serve as a catalyst for creating social and environmental benefits alongside a financial return.
My focus is simple: I help families and foundations align their wealth with their values while supporting their understanding of the social and environmental benefits they catalyze with their capital. My personal passions oftentimes mirror those of the clients that I’m fortunate to advise. As such, I feel a natural connection with those investors who want to combat climate change or support marginalized populations. They are confident that I’m professionally driven to support the multifaceted success of their portfolios.
Caprock’s status as a founding B corporation reflects our longstanding and authentic commitment to social and environmental performance while still maintaining a finance-first focus. As a result, I’m able to uniquely construct customized portfolios for each of my clients that prioritize their varying financial, social, and environmental interests.
One example of this was when I helped the Edwards Mother Earth Foundation allocate 100% of their endowment in alignment with their mission. Understandably, they were uncertain whether we could invest in such a manner while still maintaining their target rate of return. They recognized their stance was bold — and maybe even a bit unproven at the time. But together, we have gone to great lengths to construct a well-diversified portfolio that is dedicated to combatting climate change.
